PYP 2 Class Teacher

In my role as a PYP class teacher in Year 2 my duties include planning engaging and challenging lessons to meet a variety of learning needs. I incorporate a range of teaching strategies and resources, along with positive and restorative classroom management to create a welcoming and inclusive learning environment. My teaching and learning is informed by a range of both informal and formal assessments and reporting that shows student achievement in line with the Year 2 learning outcomes.

Key Stage 1 Teacher

I created and delivered inspiring lessons to meet and accommodate all student needs, encouraging collaboration, critical thinking, and inquiry. As a KS1 teacher, I taught phonics using the Read Write Inc program (RWI) that uses synthetic phonics as a method of teaching reading to children aged 4-8. I also provided daily, 1-1 intervention to target children needing additional support. Digital learning was incorporated across all subjects I taught, to supplement lessons, and to provide innovative learning experiences. In my role, we used google classroom as part of our blended learning. In addition to teaching, I attended and participated in weekly PD sessions once a week and led an after school club once a week.

Supply Teacher

As a supply teacher, I was on call to step in for absent staff within primary school settings in Cambridgeshire. I covered years Reception to Year 6. My duties included delivering and planning lessons guided by the national curriculum, to classes with up to 30 pupils ranging in learning abilities.

PYP 6 Class Teacher

I taught 20 students in Year 6, the core subjects and units of inquiry using the PYP curriculum and philosophy. I designed engaging lessons integrating technology into subject areas with 1:1 iPads and laptops. In my non-teaching hours, I provided 1:1 support to grade 4 students for 2 hours a week. The highlight of my year as the Year 6 homeroom teacher, was mentoring and guiding my students through the culminating project of their Primary Years, the Exhibition. Aside from my teaching duties, I also prepared and organized my class for their student-led conferences.

Primary Class Teacher Grades 3-5

I taught in a diverse and unique classroom environment, where the school was made from bamboo and the learning focused on sustainability and inquiry-based learning. During my 5 years at the Green School, I taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. I designed innovative lessons that promoted agency, inquiry and sustainable practices. As a Green School educator, I provided authentic, meaningful, real world learning experiences, that inspired my students to take action and make effective positive changes in the world. Outside of my classroom teaching hours, I worked alongside a small committee to help develop the Literacy curriculum in the primary years and collaborated with colleagues in my learning neighborhood on creative and innovative planning. Along with my duties in the classroom, I also led and coached after school activities for both faculty and students.

In this role as a classroom teacher, I instructed in a 3rd and 4th-grade combination class of 20 students. I followed the British National Curriculum as a guideline for teaching and balanced the standards to meet the needs of both year cohorts. I introduced my students to the student-centered framework, writers' workshop, and integrated it into our English learning blocks. My duties outside of the classroom teaching involved working with students across the primary grades offering an after school homework club.

Leadership

  • House Director | Discovery College As one of the house directors for Discovery College, my duties include organising events for the school and supporting house captains and vice captains, to encourage all house members' participation. I collaborate with the Director of Co-Curricular and other house directors to plan, organise and evaluate house systems and school wide events.
  • PYP Environment and Sustainability Representative | Discovery College As the Environment and Sustainability representative for my school, I meet once a month with other representative from around our foundation schools. Our aim is to raise awareness of environmental and sustainable practices, which lead to action in addressing sustainability and environmental priorities across the foundation. In my role, we discuss and share sustainable initiatives that are active within our schools.
  • Student Teacher (PGCE) Mentor In my role as a mentor, I support, provide coaching and feedback on lessons observed and overall classroom management. My duties included weekly meetings with my mentee to support high quality teacher training. By sharing my expertise in the field of teaching and learning, I hope to provide a positive and successful experience for both my students and the teacher trainee.
