PYP Exhibition
PYP Exhibition Year 6 - Arendal International School. Some examples of the project topics: Fast fashion, Environmentally friendly footwear, Animals and how they support mental well-being in the classroom.
The Exhibition has been one of the highlights of my teaching career. The students were dedicated, committed, and passionate about their action plans. My role in this project as the PYP 6 Homeroom Teacher was to facilitate and mentor my students through this academic journey. It was really important to ensure the students were authentic and meaningful in what they chose to present.
The PYP Exhibition is intended to incorporate all of the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors the students have developed in their primary year's schooling experience.
The central idea we collectively came up with was - How can your passions or interests influence others to make a change for the greater good of the community and environment? Using this central idea the students came up with an impressive collection of group projects all of which included advocacy, social justice, and giving back to the local community.
The students were accountable for researching, synthesizing, and organizing this information, creating personal timelines, and outlining a detailed action plan.
Lesson Plan
PYP Exhibition
The exhibition was the culminating learning experience for students in the final year of the IB Primary Years Programme.
During this learning journey, the students applied many of the skills they have acquired throughout their primary years in the PYP, into this project.
These skills included collaboration, agency, responsibility for their learning, engaging in meaningful inquiry, synthesizing and applying this learning to take action.
This was ultimately a reflection of their learning in the PYP and a celebration of their accomplishments as they transition into the next phase of their learning journey.
