Mindfulness

This was a breathing activity I shared with my students in our Google Classroom, while remote learning. I integrate these breathing strategies into our classroom as needed to support them in self regulating.

  • Mindfulness in the Classroom

I strongly believe in teaching a whole child and aim to find a balance between academics, and social and emotional learning. I appreciate the emphasis recently being placed on well being and mindfulness. I have applied much of my experience in this area into my classroom teaching and outside. I use class form time to teach my students simple mindfulness strategies to help them cope with feelings of anxiety, tiredness or stress. This is often either simple breathing techniques, brain breaks, movement, stretching or even mindful colouring. This was particularly beneficial to the wellbeing of my students during remote learning last year.
